Amid the Corona Pandemic that hit South Africa, Richards Bay Round Table 200 along with Kwambonambi Golf Club managed to pull off the most successful Golf Day yet with a record of 104 players that turned out.
Kwambonambi Golf Club, not belonging to a Municipality and solely owned by the members, was on the verge of closing their doors due to COVID 19 rules and regulations. With the golf courses only opening on level 3, the Golf Club had run into financial debt.
Gruelling the cold Saturday winter morning, Richards Bay Round Table 200 got together and assisted Marc Green (Club Manager) with ensuring that COVID 19 procedures were adhered to, with regards to wearing of masks and social distancing between golfers while playing. Round Table 200 Legs assisted with receiving money for the Green fees and raffle tickets, with the first tee off at 6:30 we were in for a long and energetic day. Round Table 200 Members assisted with some photos and helping the sponsors with setting up their tables as well as other odds and ends throughout the days golfing.
During the COVID 19 pandemic sponsors were reluctant to sponsor and Richards Bay Round Table were turned away by many as Businesses were on the back foot because of the scaling down of staff, and even closing down in some cases. Many said good luck and well done to the work that Richards Bay Round Table is doing for the community. Should business pick up in the next few months they will gladly come on board with the next golf day later this year.
Special thanks to Toyota Richards Bay, Eazi Access, VM Auto Electrical, Alpha Security P & C WI-Fi and GRRS that did sponsor on the day.
Excellent work, well done chaps!
